John O. Verploegen

On February 28 2016, Heaven was blessed with an angel when John O. Verploegen had a massive heart attack and passed away. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a vigil service to follow beginning at 5:00 p.m. at O’Connor Memorial Chapel. Funeral liturgy will be held on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. O’Connor Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. John was born on October 5, 1967 to Al Verploegen and Carol (Wurth) Verploegen, the youngest of his siblings. John was a sweet little boy with a mass of blonde curls. John attended school in Great Fall, and graduated from Great Falls High School in 1986. He attended UGF and received his Bachelors of Science in Mathematics in 1991. John was the entertainment coordinator during his time at UGF with a specialty in planning fun and successful dances. John loved to dance and always did so with a big smile and twinkling eyes. John was an avid gamer and a founding member of the Sandbaggers Game Club of Great Falls. He had many amazing and good friends through his adventures at the game club. He was particularly fond of playing Empires at Arms, with his closest friends. John worked in the family business, Taco Johns until he decided to change careers and attend Nursing School. He worked very hard for his Bachelors of Science in Nursing through Montana State University-Great Falls, and graduated in December 2008. He worked at Missouri River Manor as an RN for several years until his health made it difficult to continue. In 2003, John met the love of his life Marlyann Lawson, they were married in 2005. John and Marlyann were inseparable, she was always charmed and comforted by his wit, beautiful smile and sparkling blue eyes. John said I love you to his wife many times a day, she lost her best friend and the love of her life. John is survived by his loving wife, Marlyann; step daughter Meghan Mckee; granddaughter Mia Mckee. He is also survived by his parents Al and Carol Verploegen; sisters Karla (Scott) McCurtain, Laurie (Loran) Frazier, and Susan (Joe) Bodner; brother Jeffrey (Ann) Verploegen; nieces and nephews, Grant (Grace) Frazier, Eric Frazier, Britney (Jeremiah) Hiatt, Bridget Bodner, Angel (Jed) Polk, Jasey (Matt) McBurnett, Matthew (Emma) McCurtain, Alex McCurtain, and Melissa Kapprud.
