Johnny was born in Conrad, MT on January 19, 1957, to Gladys and John Joseph Yellow Owl. He was raised and grew up at Greenlake Heart Butte, MT where he loved to visit and tell us stories. He joined the US Army in 1976 and was honorably discharged in 1982. After his discharge, he went to work as a heavy equipment operator for 20 years at Malmstrom AFB. He taught so many airmen how to operate all the equipment and they will dearly miss him. He loved fishing, hunting, rodeos, and attending pow-wows. Most of all, he loved to cook and loved all dogs. He was always proud of his heritage and loved his grandma, Mary Rutherford, who helped to raise him. Johnny is also survived by his brothers, Jerome, Roger, Kenny, and Raymond; two sisters, Memory and Barbara; and uncles, Frank Spearson and Gilbert Yellow Owl. He was preceded in death by his grandmother and parents.
