Katherine Madonna Politz, 85, of Great Falls, passed away of natural causes on March 31, 2018. Kathy had been residing at Highgate Senior Living at the time of her death. A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 7, at 2:00 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Kathy was born January 7, 1933 in Wagner, South Dakota to parents Michael Pelroy and Martha Dunbar. Kathy grew up and graduated high school in Washington. Kathy met the love of her life in 1949, Henry Politz in Everett, WA. They were married on March 3, 1951. They were married for 64 years up until Henry’s death in 2015. Together Henry and Kathy raised four children. Kathy’s married life started out as a military wife, raising children and traveling from coast to coast. Kathy became an outstanding cook due to her many fantastic cakes, pies and famous caramel rolls. Kathy loved supporting her children in their athletic activities. Kathy had a passion for singing and she had a beautiful voice. Kathy retired from the Columbus Hospital in 1988, was involved with the Red Hat Society and the VFW with her husband. Henry and Kathy enjoyed many Great Falls baseball games together. Kathy is survived by her children: daughter Tracy Leach of Great Falls; sons Michael (Diane) Politz of Lacey, WA; Steven (Shawna) Politz of Spanaway, WA; Robert (Susie) Politz of Great Falls. Grandchildren: Kimberly (Travis) Lauricella of Lakewood, WA; Steve (Loretta) Politz of Roy, WA; Tracy Osborn of Lacey, WA; Danny Surniski of Olympia, WA; Rikki (Matt) Carlson of Rainer, WA; Kyle Staples of Spanaway, WA; Konnor Staples of Spanaway, WA; Thomas Broaddus of Great Falls; Jared Leach of Great Falls; Kathleen (Josh) Gleason of Grand Forks, ND; Summer Politz Varrasse of Portland, OR; Sean (Sarah) Politz of Portland, OR; 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Politz; parents, Michael Pelroy and Martha Dunbar; sister Elaine St. Amand; brother Patrick Parce; and Allen Parce.
