Kathryn Schoknecht 97, of Great Falls, Montana, died of natural causes Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Peace Hospice. She was born Kathryn Emmaline Steinbach on May 16, 1919, in Spokane, Washington. Her family moved to Great Falls and she graduated from Great Falls High School in 1937. She moved with her husband Herman Schoknecht to his hometown of Chicago, Illinois, where they raised their daughter. Herman was a steel worker, and Kathryn became the head accountant for the famous department store Marshall Field, an accomplishment of which she was justly proud. The Schoknechts moved back to Great Falls after the death of Kathryn’s father, to be near her widowed mother. Kathryn was an avid reader who especially loved archaeology. She was active in the local philatelic club. She was a long-time member of the local Living Church of God congregation, and she will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Elder, of Juneau, Alaska. Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband Herman, and a brother, Michael Steinbach. Cremation and interment have taken place, in accordance with her wishes.
