Kelly Michael Wetzel

November 2, 1961 — December 23, 2018

Kelly Michael Wetzel, 57, left with the angels on December 23 while at home alone shortly after being discharged from the hospital. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with a private burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery at a later date.O’Connor Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Kelly was born November 2, 1961 in Great Falls, the youngest of four children to Billea and Frank Wetzel. He attendedgrade school at St. Joseph’s and graduated from C.M.R. High School in 1981. He attendedMontana State University and then enlisted in the US Navy, where he worked as an electronic equipment repairman. He was discharged in 1984.Kelly then worked a short time in California and settled at Fort Collins, CO for over twenty years.He attended vocational tech and worked in electronics for a time before moving back to Great Falls to be near family.Here he worked in construction, as a nurse attendant and at NEW. His interests were many and he enjoyed all sports and was especially an avid Green Bay Packers fan.He liked fishing, video games, music and was good at mechanics, spending many hours working on old cars. Kelly was very kind, loved animals and always had pets.In his years back in Great Falls, he took in a homeless couple and others until they were back on their feet.He didn’t have much but shared what he had with friends.Kelly dated but was never able to find his soulmate. Kelly is survived by his mother Billea Rada (Fred) of Great Falls; brother Kirk Wetzel (Carol) of Great Falls; sisters Kendra Kalsher (Mike) of Rensselaer NY, and Karla Gray (Joel) of Rockledge FL;four stepsisters; one stepbrother;numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins, not to mention his special cat Isis and his rescue cats. Kelly was preceded in death by his fatherFrank Wetzel,; grandparents Jess andEmma Wetzel and George andCharlotte Carver;and stepfather Tony S. Rose. Kelly loved Christmas and celebrated it in Heaven this year.He turned to God to help him over the many rough spots in his life.“He who believes in Me will live, even thought he dies; and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die.” John 11:25,26
