LeeAnn McAdam Getten, 66, of Great Falls, lost her valiant fight against lung cancer at her home on Saturday, January 26th, 2019 where she was surrounded in love by her family.Per LeeAnn’s wishes, a private family memorial will be held in Glacier National Park later this summer.A Celebration of Life for family and friends to share stories and memories will be held Wednesday, January 30th, 2019 at 4 pm at the Eagles Club, 1501 9th Street South, Great Falls, Montana.O’Connor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. LeeAnn was born in Cut Bank, Montana in 1952 to Don and Delores McAdam.LeeAnn grew up and attended school in Cut Bank, graduating from Cut Bank High School in 1970.LeeAnn attended Dahl’s Beauty College in Great Falls.In 1973, she married Jim Fadrhonc.LeeAnn and Jim were blessed with their daughter Heather in 1975.They later divorced.In 1979, LeeAnn married Charlie Getten in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho and they were blessed with their daughter Andrea in 1981.LeeAnn and Charlie lived in Vaughn, Montana and successfully owned and operated C&L Trucking for several years.Although they later divorced, Charlie and LeeAnn remained good friends until Charlie’s death in 2007.In 2000, LeeAnn sold her home in Vaughn and purchased her home in Great Falls.LeeAnn quickly filled this home with love and her unique style.There were always projects to be done and if she wasn’t busy with her own projects, she was happily helping family or friends with theirs.She especially looked forward to spring and summer when she would spend hours working outside in her yard or flower gardens.Her yard and flowers always reflected her hard work and she was especially proud of her back yard where she loved to entertain family and friends. In 2009, LeeAnn joyously welcomed her first grandchild, Ella into her world.Ella was followed by Lillian in 2011, Cash in 2012 and Madelyn in 2014.To say that her grandchildren were the loves of her life is an understatement.She would light up as she shared stories, pictures and videos with her friends.She couldn’t wait to travel to Chicago or Denver to see them and she loved when they traveled to Montana to spend time with her.Although her time with them was far too short, “Grammy” filled their worlds with love and memories they will forever cherish. LeeAnn began work at Benefis Health Care in Great Falls in 1989 retiring in 2017.During her time living and working in Great Falls, LeeAnn developed many friendships and was blessed to have many close friends with whom she enjoyed many different activities, including golf, bunco, wine club, theatre and painting.She enjoyed road trips to Chicago, Denver and Phoenix to visit family.LeeAnn loved to travel to Glacier National Park where she especially enjoyed the beauty of Lake McDonald, Apgar and Going to the Sun. LeeAnn was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer in June of 2018.Although she endured several rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, she never lost her will to live and fought until the end.Even when she was feeling her worst, she always greeted family and friends with a smile and told them she was “doing good.” LeeAnn is survived by her mother, Delores Sorum, formerly of Cut Bank, Montana; daughters Heather (Jerrad) Stevens of Littleton, Colorado; Andrea (Tommy) Benavidez of St. Charles, Illinois; Grandchildren Ella and Lillian Stevens and Cash and Madelyn Benavidez; Sisters Denise Matz of Cut Bank, Montana; Barb (Buck) Loyning of Powell, Wyoming; Laura (Ben) Norfolk of Winnemucca, Nevada; Carol (Mark) Robinson of Jackson Hole, Wyoming; and brother Mike McAdam; Special Auntie to niece Cassie Strobl and nephew Trevor Matz of Gilbert, Arizona; special Aunt Mona Arnott and close cousins Carla and Jan Arnott.LeeAnn also leaves behind her many close friends and Team LeeAnn members without whose support and love the past few months would have been so much more difficult.LeeAnn was preceded in death by her father, Don McAdam and sister Rose Coats. The family would like to send thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Sletten Cancer Institute, for whose compassion, care and understanding we will be forever grateful.
