LeIda Elizabeth (Roberts) Haynes, 105, of Fort Benton, passed away very peacefully, Monday, February 4, 2013 of natural causes at her residence. A private family celebration of her life will be held next summer. Cremation has taken place under the direction of O’Connor Funeral Home LeIda was born June 28, 1907 in Hollywood, CA. She graduated from Pasadena High School and went on to receive a BA from Occidental College and a Masters in Theology form Pacific School of Religion. LeIda was united in marriage to Eugene Vail Haynes on Aug 10, 1929. Her entire life was devoted to serving others. LeIda held many local, state, and national church offices. She love working with youth groups and playing the pipe organ. She was active with the American Foreign Exchange Student program (AFS). Over the years, she had many Asian AFS students that lived in her home. LeIda was a fantastic cook, loved fishing, playing cards, and games with her family. She had a passion for traveling and became a world traveler. She was a very special lady and touched the hearts of everyone she met. LeIda will be missed by all that knew her. LeIda is survived by her daughter, Betty Jean Bylund and her husband Dr. Robert E. Bylund of Fort Benton; grandchildren, Brad Bylund of Houston, TX, Beth Bylund of Seattle, WA, and Brian (Diane) Bylund of Colorado Springs, CO; great-grandchildren Becky, Tammy, Kelsey, Payton, and Dylann; and great-great-grandson Jayce. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Haynes; daughter-in-law Ceil Holt; partner John Snyder; and great-granddaughter Kaylee Bylund.
