Lloyd Young

Lloyd H. “Lucky” Young, 83, of Tracy, a retired pipefitter passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014 from natural causes at his home in Tracy. At his request, no funeral services are planned. Cremation has taken place under the direction of O’Connor Funeral Home. Lloyd was born December 21, 1930 in Gillette, WY to Harry Young and Delfhia McDonald of Broadus. His family moved to Deer Lodge in 1936 and he attended school there. After high school, he went to Butte to work in the mines. In 1954, he moved to Missoula and met and married his wife of 59 years, Rosemary Haven. Together they moved to Polson and worked until 1956 when they moved to Great Falls and Lloyd joined the pipefitters union. He worked in refrigeration and heating with the union for the next 32 years. He worked for White’s, Pinski’s, Johnson Control, and H.C. Smith to name a few. Lloyd retired permanently in 1991. In 1959, Lloyd and Rosemary bought property in Tracy and built their home where they raised two children; David and Traci. Lloyd enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting, and had the same fishing and hunting partner for years until he gave up hunting two years ago after shooting one last elk. Lloyd is survived by his son, David E Young of Tracy; daughter Traci (Brian) Schlagel of Great Falls; granddaughter Shelby Christian of Tracy; sisters Velma Kuntz and Bonnie Clay; and brothers Arnold Compton, Raymond Compton, David Compton, and Rick Clay. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Young in March of 2012; parents; and brothers Kenny Clay, Ronny Clay, Danny Clay, and Bobby Clay.
