Lois Arlene Shure

Lois A. (Sundermeier) Shure, 88 of Great Falls passed away Saturday April 8, 2017. Lois was born June 22, 1928 in Lewistown, MT to Dr. Edward H. Sundermeier and Mary M. Schuler. She was baptized at St. Leo’s Catholic Church Lewistown. In October 1933 the family moved to Shelby, MT where her father Edward was an Optometrist there for years. Lois graduated from Shelby High School on May 23, 1946. Eddie Shure got discharged from the U.S. Navy that same day. She went to work at Graybeal Chevrolet as a bookkeeper and secretary to Herb Graybeal. Eddie also worked there as mechanic and foreman. Eddie and Lois got married on September 6, 1947 at St. Williams Shelby by Father Waggner. She was very active in St. Williams Catholic Church, School, and St. Ann’s Unit. They were blessed with three sons, Edward Eugene, Richard Clyde, and Stephan Michael. All children were born in Shelby and Lois was glad they were raised there. Good people, good town, and good times. St. Patrick’s Day 1962, the family moved to Great Falls, MT where Eddie worked for John Rice Truck and Equipment Co. until he retired in 1987. The family belonged to Holy Family Catholic Church. Then charter members of Sts. Peter and Paul and later Holy Spirit Parish. Lois loved babysitting the grandchildren and watching them play sports. She enjoyed playing cards and board games with her family and friends. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for her boys. She liked history, especially Civil War and MT history. Lois is survived by sons, Edward E. (Janet) Shure of Dayton, NV, Stephan M. (Terrie) Shure of Great Fall; six grandchildren, Rodney, Blake, Byron, Krista, Michael, and Miranda; sister-in-law; Peggy (Al) Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband and best friend, Eddie C. December 27, 1988; son, Richard, October 10, 1965 and sister-in-law, Doris (Harold) Drake. Memorials can be made to Retired Priests Diocese of Great Falls or Billings Clinical Benefit Association.
