Loreta "Fern" Prescott, 77, went to be with the Lord June 17, 2017 surrounded by loved ones. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm at O'Connor Memorial Chapel, Thursday, June 22, 2017.Please wear bright colors rather than black. Loreta (luh-REE-tuh) "Fern" Prescott, (nee Lawrence), was born in Lawrence, KS, December 8, 1939 to Earnest Ray and Marvel Lawrence.She had 2 brothers, Leonard and Dale and a sister, Sylvia June.Fern grew up in Wichita and Newton, KS and attended the School of Hard Knocks.She spent her younger years working in respiratory therapy as a nurse’s aide, and running a small nursing home at age 19. Fern met and married her first husband Bonnie Truett when she was 17 (1956). They had one daughter, Pamela Lynn.Fern then met and married John Prescott (Rod) in 1967 and they grew a family together adding a daughter, Kimberly Dawn, and a son John Randall.Rod was a truck driver and Fern worked overnights while they lived in Arizona. Ultimately they moved to Montana in the bitter cold winter of 1983 and she became a homemaker. Great Falls has been Fern's home since 1987. Gramma Fern never met a child that she wasn't "Gramma Fern" to.She spent several years serving as a Foster Grandparent in the Great Falls schools, and touched countless young lives with her unconditional love and support.She also shared her love with older folks too, volunteering with Senior Companions. Fern was skilled at knitting and crocheting and created amazing handmade gifts, like blankets, finger puppets, booties and Christmas Bells.Each piece specially tailored to each recipient.She was an avid video game player and loved her Nintendo and all of her computer puzzle games.She loved to share stories with everyone she met; from racing motorcycles when she was young to stories that might make you blush. There was always a full candy dish at her house and she had a smile and a hug for everyone. Fern loved her family most of all. She constantly bragged on her 6 grandkids: Will (Sandra) Friedlander and Nichole Friedlander of Phoenix, AZ, Rodney Prescott of Anaconda, MT and Ellen (Cody Stockman) Kruithoff of Billings, MT, Takayra and Makayla Prescott of Glasgow, MT; and her precious Great Granddaughter Avery Friedlander of Phoenix, AZ. If there is a word that personifies Fern, it's FIGHTER.She fought mental health issues, breast cancer, kidney cancer, Alzheimer's AND a rare form of anemia and BEAT THEM ALL with Kim and Pete at her side. She is survived by her Love and "Her Little Man" Pete Daniels; children Pamela (Bill) Friedlander of Phoenix, AZ, John Randall (Mercedes) Prescott of Upstate, NY, Kimberly (Rob) Kruithoff of Great Falls, MT,and Thankful (Wade) Geraets of Glasgow, MT. Loreta was preceded in death by her Mother and Father; brother Leonard; sister June; and husband Rod.
