Lori Anne (Saario) Rummel, 56, of Great Falls passed away Monday, December 29, 2014 from natural causes at her home. A private service will be held with her family at a later date. Lori was born in Renton, WA on November 17, 1958 to Robert and Annabelle (Stebly) Saario. She was the youngest of four children with brothers Jerry and Scott, and sister Sydney. Lori was raised in Renton and spent most of her summers along the shores of Lake Washington with her close friend Jolene. She attended Renton High School and then went to work at Boeing, riveting airplanes. So whether it was sailing with her brother Jerry, hunting oysters with other brother Scott, or all the special times with her sister Syd, she always enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and being close to all her nieces and nephews. Not long after meeting Bob Rummel in Renton, they were off to Alaska for a great adventure, settling in the small community of Wasilla. With the boom hitting Alaska, a shortage of housing, the only place to stay was a camp ground. After a couple months there, they found a piece of land on a small lake outside of Wasilla. Timber was cleared and a cabin was hand built by the two of them. Bob and Lori were married in the Little Red School House in 1983. The summers were filled with long hours of sunshine and adventures throughout Alaska with their trusted dog Saint by her side. About mid-winter, the journey back to the lower 48 to visit family was always something to look forward to. With a baby on the way in the fall of ’86, it was time to move into the town of Wasilla, with all the modern conveniences. That’s where their first son Chase was born. Lori loved Alaska, but by the summer of ’88, it was time to move back to Renton. Soon after, their second son Daren was born in the same hospital that Lori was. She was happy to be back, close to all her friends and family. They spent a few years in the little town of Black Diamond, not far from Renton. In 1990, an opportunity came along to buy a place in Montana. Reluctant at first, Lori soon came to love the state and the people. Deciding to make this their permanent home, they bought a house and land just outside of Ulm. Shortly after the move to Montana, their third son Shane was born in Great Falls. Oh how she loved her boys. She enjoyed staying at home with her family, cooking meals and taking care of day to day chores. Between the horseback rides, 4-H and sporting events, or trips to the cabin in Lincoln, it was always an adventure. They spent their years working on the land, renovating the farm house, going to antique shows, raising horses and farm animals. Summers always included family vacations back to Washington. With Lori and Bob going their separate ways in 2002, she moved to Great Falls. Beginning a new career in concrete, from decorative walkways to waterfall features. She loved taking on new challenges and tasks. Shortly after, she became acquainted with Todd Trovatten, which became her companion for many years. She continued to take care of her children, enjoyed staying home with her dogs, and eventually babysitting her grandkids. She always looked forward to cooking big holiday meals and having her family coming over for visits. Throughout the years of traveling and all the places she called home, she made many friendships along the way. Loved by so many, she will truly be missed. Lori is survived by son Chase (Layla), grandson Kaell, son Daren (Molly), son Shane (Makenzie), granddaughters Aleiah and Kloe; companion Todd Trovatten, all of Great Falls; sister Sydney (Rick) Niemi of Washington, brother Scott (Debbie) Saario of North Carolina; 5 nieces and 2 nephews, and lots of other loving friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Annabelle Saario and her brother Jerry Saario.
