LOU (COOK) PENNING, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 12, 2017. Lou Penning was born in Choteau, MT, on August 22, 1929, the firstborn child of Harvey Joseph Cook and Mary Etta (Maule) Cook. Her birth name was Mary Lidwina Cook, but she was known all her life as 'Lou'. Lou was among the first meter maids hired by the Billings Police Department, and later worked at Lobby Liquor and Mountain Bell/ AT&T. She retired and moved from Billings to Augusta Montana in 1994, where she raised goats, donkeys, and chickens. She had many neighbors who will miss her such as Jenny Putnam, who helped her during her time of need. She loved Jesus, animals, and the great outdoors. Lou leaves behind 6 children; Dennis Penning, Douglas Penning, Dale Penning, Steve Penning, Lewis Penning, and Marie Lynn “Rosie” Penning-Shoen. She will be greatly missed by her family. She was preceded in death by both parents; her 2 brothers William “Bill” Cook and James Cook; and her sister Alzora “Cookie” (Cook) Nichols. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated.
