Lulu Marie Capps Beattie passed away Saturday January 28, 2017, aged 93.Born Lulu Marie Capps on January 17, 1924, in Blackfoot, Idaho; she was the fifth child of Robert Oscar and Edith Ryman Capps. Life was always an adventure in this family that eventually grew to number nine children. Some of Mom's fondest childhood memories were of family outings and adventures, in addition to the daily trials and tribulations of ranch life. In her senior year of high school, Mom's best friend and classmate Ellen Beattie introduced her to her brother Glen. This was the spark that eventually grew into 60 years of marriage. Her daughter Sue was born in 1946, and son Bert followed in 1951. The family moved a few times following Glen's career, before settling in Great Falls, Montana.Family was Lou's first priority. She was an active volunteer in both Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts as her children were growing up.Lou made many fond memories of camping trips and summer outings to Salmon, Idaho, and Moose Lake, Montana, as well as trips to Arizona and Utah to visit the Chamberlains. Lou and Glen began building and maintaining a "bluebird trail" of birdhouses following Glen's retirement and the births of their two grandsons, Seth and Matthew. When the boys were old enough, they accompanied Grandma and Grandpa on these trips to check on the bird houses.Summers continued to be the time to be with family at the lake or camping. Lou is fondly remembered as a kind and caring mother and grandmother.
