Margaret Smith, 91, of Great Falls, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, April 21, 2014 at her home. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the Manchester Cemetery. Cremation has taken place in the care of O’Connor Funeral Home. Margaret, the youngest of nine children was born to Mary and Stephen Mesaros on May 28, 1922 at Millegan Route. At age six, after her father’s death, the family moved into Great Falls. Margaret attended local schools and graduated from Great Falls High School in 1941. She was a homemaker her whole life and enjoyed cooking and baking and was very good at it. Many, many great meals came from her kitchen. Some of our favorites were cabbage and noodles, ginger cookies, and “turtle bars.” She also canned all summer from Dad’s garden. Her dill pickles and dill green beans were the best. One of her favorite hobbies was sewing. She sewed outfits for us growing up and then began quilting. Many were given to people in need as well as family members. Margaret and Stanley M. Smith were married December 30, 1961 and continued to make their home in Great Falls. They remained inseparable until Stan’s passing in 1995. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Sheila Klepps; son Jerry (Sylvia) Dutchak; grandchildren Leann (Jim) Svir, Steven (Christine) Klepps, Michael Klepps, Jerry Dutchak, and Melanie Picken; great-grandchildren Madeline Klepps, Charles Klepps, Thomas Klepps, Kyle Svir, and Troy Svir who she dearly loved and always asked about in her healthier years. She loved their pictures and visits. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Stan; son William “Bill”; daughter Rosemary; parents Stephen and Mary Mesaros; and all of her siblings including her sister and best friend Helen. We are going to miss our Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma very much, but we are so happy and grateful everything went as she wished. We’ll see you later
