Margie Lue (Patek) Duren, of Great Falls, Montana lost her battle with cancer on March 18, 2022, at the age of 75. She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many. Margie was born February 12, 1947, in Great Falls, Montana to the late James and Marian (Kucera) Patek. Margie was preceded in death by her dear husband, Larry, and their beloved cat Mia. Margie is survived by her twin sister, Mary Ann (Kip) Giles of Polson, Montana; her son, Scott (Laura) Duren; and granddaughter, Vanessa, all of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Growing up, Margie’s family lived in various states, through high school. After graduating from college in 1969, she taught for a year in Columbia Falls, Montana. Margie then taught Special Education in the Great Falls Public School system for 27 years. Margie and Larry were married for 47 years. They loved to travel, traveling by RV or car to most of the 50 states. They often were accompanied in their RV by their furry felines, Pickles and Chance. Margie was a loving Mom who adored her son and daughter-in-law and was so proud of her granddaughter, Vanessa. She loved collecting antiques, and she received much joy from having numerous photos of family and pets all around her house. She loved FaceTiming, shopping, and spending time with her twin sister and best friend Mary Ann. Margie loved visiting with and getting to know everyone she came in contact with. Margie wanted to thank Cindy, Dan, Donna, Marla, Meghan, and the staff at the Clinic Cancer Care for their unwavering friendship and support. “Death leaves a heartache that nothing can heal. Margie was an avid animal lover and would have loved any memorial contributions to go to your local animal rescue shelter.
