Marian June Selvage, 83, grandmother and small businesswoman, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2017 in Great Falls after a brief illness. She was 83. Marian was born April 23, 1933, to Elmer and Ellen Megee in Virginia City, MT. She moved at a young age to Bozeman and lived 55 years there. For four decades, Marian operated a successful small business, M&R Flies, tying flies suited to southwest Montana’s excellent fishing streams and rivers. She also helped her husband, Ron, run an antique shop. When Marian and Ron retired, they moved east to Big Timber. They moved to Great Falls eight years ago to be close to their daughter and her family. Always active, Marian in recent years held part-time jobs at Aging Services and at St. Vincent de Paul. She enjoyed all of the wonderful people she worked with at both jobs. Marian enjoyed gardening, fly fishing, crocheting, sewing and photography. She and her husband frequently took drives into the Montana countryside, making friends with strangers, scouting for wildlife, and antiquing. Her family will enjoy the wildlife pictures she took over the years. Marian is survived by daughter June (Richard) Kavulla; granddaughter Kirstin Kavulla; grandson Travis Kavulla; and great-grandson Kashius. She was preceded in death by her husband Ron and her parents. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in honor of Marian can be made to St. Vincent de Paul, 426 Central Avenue West, Great Falls, 59404. A memorial service will take place at a later date.
