Marion Brown

d. December 2, 2016

Marion Bateman Brown, 73, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, 2 December 2016. A Celebration of Life will be held at the West Side United Methodist Church in Great Falls, Montana (726 Central Ave. West) on Tuesday the 6th of December at 11:00am with luncheon to follow. Cremation has been in the care of O’Connor Funeral Home. Marion has been described by many adjectives. Her grandchildren described her as beautiful, stubborn, intelligent, and kind. She was “tough as nails”, but she always had a positive outlook. She was the person that you wanted backing you in a fight. She never backed down from a fight, at least not while I was around. She was a two -time survivor of breast cancer. She was born to William and Hulda Bateman of Choteau, MT on the 17th. of August 1943. She grew up and attended school in Choteau. After graduation, she attended Rocky Mountain College in Billings and graduated with a B.S. in Science in 1966. One night at a bar in Billings, Montana she met the man of her dreams, or maybe she just couldn’t shake him? Either way, they were married 17 December of 1966. In 1967 the couple settled in Libby, MT. After their children were born, Marion became a full time mother, and part-time bookkeeper and partner for Dennis in their many business ventures. After retiring, they moved to Roundup, MT to be closer to Dennis’ parents. Two years ago, they moved to Great Falls to be closer to their daughter and their grandchildren. She was a fierce supporter and defender of many organizations and groups. She was a past member of the Civil Air Patrol, and a current member of Eastern Star, the United Methodist Church, Red Hats, the Skunk Wagon Car Club, and the National Rifle Association. She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years Dennis Brown, their daughter Libby Lake and husband Kevin of Great Falls, their son Jim Brown and his wife Marion Kello of Bend, Oregon, and her two grandsons Oscar, and Alex Lake. Memorials in Marion’s name may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 60 E. 56th St., 8th Floor, New York, NY 10022.
