Martha was born on April 12, 1933, in Walker, Arkansas, to Chalmus and Leona (Hill) Duncan. Following her family’s move to an area west of Harlem, MT at a young age, Martha graduated from Harlem High School in 1951 and continued her education at the Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Havre, MT, graduating with a nursing degree in 1953. Martha went on to provide care at numerous long term care facilities as well as in private homes as a home care nurse for many years.
Martha married Gilbert Spinler on November 6, 1952, and was blessed with eight children, which later multiplied to 31 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She later married William “Bill” Ameline on December 16, 1992. William and Martha loved to spend time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, travel, listen to music, and attend polka dances until William’s passing on January 4, 2011.
Martha became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and she looked forward to sharing her hope from the Bible with everyone she met. An avid crocheter, Martha also loved to knit, sew, complete puzzles, and most of all, play card games. Martha was an exceptional cook and shared her love with her family and friends through her delicious meals and desserts, which were never in short supply.
Martha filled her 91 years of life with love, faith, and laughter and will truly be missed, not only by her family, but also by her many friends. She is survived by six of her children, Catherine Reichert, Joe Spinler, Debora McCracken, Danette Zeleniak, Robert Spinler, and Gilbert Spinler; as well as her many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great- grandchildren. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Chalmus and Leona Duncan; as well as her husband, William Ameline; and two sons, Timothy Spinler and Michael Spinler.
“With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” Revelation 21: 3-4, New World Translation.
