Martha Sue Beattie

Martha Sue Beattie, 69, of Great Falls, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation. O’Connor Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Sue was born March 9, 1946 to Glenn and Lou Beattie in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Her family lived in Helena, and then settled in Great Falls. Sue graduated from Great Falls High in 1964 and obtained her teaching degree at Oregon School of Education and Seattle Pacific University. She taught school in California and Idaho, and returned to Great Falls to teach 3rd grade at Holy Spirit Catholic School, retiring in 2012. Sue loved traveling, and journeyed to Scotland and England researching her Scottish heritage. Her students were her main focus during the school year, as she was devoted to providing them with the best education. Summers were spent traveling in her orange VW Karmann Ghia with her father and dog Tanner, searching for wildflowers to photograph and monitoring her parents bluebird trail. Sue is survived by her mother, Lou Beattie; brother Bert (Sandi) Beattie; nephews Seth (Autumn) Beattie and Matthew Beattie; two aunts and uncles; and numerous cousins reside elsewhere. She was preceded in death by her father, Glen Beattie. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Sues name to be given to Cascade County Humane Society, 1010 25th Ave NE, Great Falls, MT 59404 or Meals on Wheels, 1620 12th Ave N, Great Falls, MT 59401.
