Nancy Allison Bartram

May 17, 1924 — March 2, 2017

Nancy Allison Bartram, 92, passed away peacefully in her sleep, on March 2, 2017 in Great Falls, Montana. Nancy was born on May 17, 1924 in Wren Mississippi and graduated from Mississippi State College for Women in 1945.She went to work in Oak Ridge Tennessee and became one of the now famous, "Girls of Atomic City." It was in Oak Ridge that she met her future husband Robert "Bob" Bartram. Both transferred to Kodak in Rochester N.Y. in 1947, and were married at Wesley United Methodist Church in 1949. Despite the fact that Nancy lived in the north for more than 60 years, she never lost her southern accent. Bob and Nancy had four children, and while she was primarily a homemaker, she also found time to further her education and receive several higher education degrees from both Brockport and Nazareth Colleges. She was a substitute teacher at Irondequoit High School and eventually took a full time position at Sawyer Business School. Nancy was extremely creative and crafty and always had projects going on.She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and especially enjoyed visiting with her sisters. She loved to talk and she loved to sing! Her Uncle told her she "couldn't carry a tune in a bucket" but she didn't care! After the loss of her husband in 2008 Nancy moved to Hawaii for three years, then spent two years in Texas, and spent her final two years at Meadowlark Assisted Living in Great Falls, Montana. Nancy is survived by her three sisters, Caroline Burch, Miriam Marlar and Rebecca Fortenberry; her three sons, Robert (Judy) Bartram, Bruce and Dale Bartram; a daughter, Jane (Steve) Plant; four grandchildren, Rebecca Larsen, Suzanne and Charlie Bartram, and Mia Plant; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob, her husband of 58 years preceded her in death as did her brothers John Wayne and Jimmy. The family would like to give a special thank you to her caretakers and friends at Meadowlark for taking such good care of her and making her feel so loved. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Wesley United Methodist Church, 2009 Dewey Ave., Rochester NY, 14615; or to a charity of your choice.Feel free to leave a thought or a favorite story.
