Norman Edward Hagen was born February 14, 1920 in Great Falls, MT to Peter and Anna Hagen. The family lived in Dutton until he was five when they moved to Kevin, MT, to get in on the oil field action. He started school in Kevin, and the family moved back to Dutton when he was nine. They lived on the farm in the summer, and moved to town in the winter where he went to school, and graduated in 1939. One of his favorite past times was ice-skating on the Teton River; they would walk down to the river and skate to the trestle and back. During his senior year, as a Center and Nose guard, their team took state. In 1940, he attended Montana Agricultural College in Bozeman, MT. After a quarter in college, he and some buddies headed out to Oregon to work for the winter. Then he returned home to the farm where he farmed with his dad. He married the love of his life, Mildred Stanfield on June 3, 1951, and continued farming with his son Mike, until 1994. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and camping with his family in Sun River Canyon. He loved football, and he and his wife bowled on a league with their neighbors. He served as church council president, and was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church his whole life. He is survived by sister Constance Jesperson, of Minneapolis, MN; son Paul (Lisa) Hagen of Mankato, MN; daughter Jeanne (Ken) Milledge of Belgrade, MT; son Michael Hagen of Power, MT; and son David Hagen of Mankato, MN. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mildred; and daughter-in-law Marilyn Hagen. Memorials may be given to Bethany Lutheran Church, Dutton, MT 59433.
