Paul H Grosvold

Paul Harry Grosvold, 53, was taken to heaven by his Lord Jesus, on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at a local hospital. A victim of esophageal cancer, he bravely fought for a year, firmly believing he would be healed and continue his life, because he “had so much to do;” especially with the light of his life his beloved son, Erik. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St John’s Lutheran Church, 5300 9th Ave South. Cremation has taken place under the direction of O’Connor Funeral Home. Paul was born on February 1, 1963 in Great Falls, Montana. He lived his entire life here except while in Bozeman working three jobs while attending MSU, where he earned a degree in Business Administration. After college he worked in Bozeman and Belgrade. There his son, Erik, was born on July 1, 1995. In 1998 they returned to Great Falls. Paul started a construction business doing remodeling and building, never needing to advertise because another job was always waiting. He was a very creative and excellent builder, always in demand. When Erik began Cub Scouts, Paul immediately got involved. He was Scout Master for Troup 1 for many years. He loved the outdoors and camping, all the time teaching the scouts how to become responsible men. He loved the kids, and was particularly concerned about those who had no dad or those whose parents were in the military. His scouts called him Papa Paul. Many young men became Eagle Scouts with Paul’s urging and direction. He recently received the Montana Silver Beaver award which is rarely given. Paul was active in his church, often called on to help where a tall guy (6’6”) was required. Paul is survived by his son, Erik; parents Harry and Roine (Walston); brothers David of Morrow, AR, Daniel of Lake Stevens, WA, and Timothy of Great Falls; several nieces and nephews; Erik’s mother, Jody Longstreth of Fletcher, NC; and special friend Chris Duthie of Phoenix, AZ. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a scholarship fund for Paul’s only son, Erik. Donations can be made to The Erik Grosvold Scholarship Fund at Stockman Bank.
