Philip Edward Roberts, 71, passed away July 28, 202,1 at his home in Belt, MT surrounded by loved ones just as he had wanted. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 6, 2021, at O’Connor Memorial Chapel. Phil was born August 23, 1949, to Donald and Geraldine Roberts in Coshocton, OH. He grew up in Pontiac, IL, where he met and married the love of his life Peggy (Juhler) Roberts. They had one son, Russell Roberts. After enlisting in the USAF in 1970, Phil made a career out of his service. He was stationed as a missileer at Malmstrom, MT; Whiteman, MO; Vandenburg, CA; and Offutt, NE. He retired in 1993 as a Major. He also completed his bachelor’s in accounting at the College of Great Falls while stationed at Malmstrom. Phil loved being a part of his community and giving back. He was a Sun River Skeet Club Officer, President of MT State Association, scout leader, baseball coach, and most recently, volunteered his time at the Great Falls Habitat for Humanity Re-store. His favorite pastimes were refinishing antique furniture, fishing, shooting, and traveling. Phil and Peggy spent many winters warming their feathers in Yuma, AZ. Later in life Phil traveled with his dog, Westley to Yuma where he made many friends who became family. Phil’s greatest passion, which he shared with his son, was skeet shooting. He shot skeet with the USAF, where he and his team held five world records. Phil was also inducted into the Montana Skeet Shooting Hall of Fame. Phil was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy; father, Donald; and mother, Geraldine. He is survived by his son, Russell; daughter-in-law, Amber; and five grandchildren, Ciara, Gavin, Maverick, Memphis, and Rogue. He is also survived by his sisters, Joyce (Jerry) Phfleeger and Patricia Rangel; many nieces and nephews; and a great deal of friends.
