Richard passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 14, 2024, 10 days before his 62nd birthday. Richard loved the life he built. He had an enormous sense of humor, and his smile could light up a room.
Per Richard’s request, there will be no services planned. He preferred to be remembered how he once was, strong and healthy.
He had a brief stint in the military where he made a few life-long friends. He was stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base when he met his wife of 42 years, Francine Marie Wallace (Kenneth and Beryl Wallace). They were married August 13, 1982, in Great Falls surrounded by family and friends. Richard made Fran's family his own and loved them all dearly. Although born in Guam he loved Montana and was happy to raise his children there.
Richard and Fran have 5 children, 4 sons, Cory (Nancy) Aguon from Massillon, Ohio, Richard Aguon, Mo Aguon, and Jesse Aguon all from Great Falls; and daughter Makayla (Sharaadrick) Crum from Ripley, Mississippi. He was so proud of his grandchildren, Craig Aguon, Olivia Aguon, Kira Crum, and was looking forward to welcoming a new granddaughter, Kaelani Crum this spring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Maria Aguon; 2 brothers, Joseph Aguon and Frankie Aguon; and nephew, Joseph Brian Aguon.
Richard's first love was family, but his 2nd was his career at Montana School for the Deaf and Blind. He lived to make others happy. Jim Kelly, Director of Student Life was not only his boss, but a best friend. Retiring due to medical reasons was the hardest thing Richard ever had to do. He enjoyed watching the students in his care grow into independent adults. Many were able to come back and work alongside him as coworkers.
We would like to thank all who supported, visited, sent cards, gifts, and offered kind words to Richard and the family. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Montana School for the Deaf and Blind Foundation, c/o the Richard Aguon Award, PO Box 6576, Great Falls, MT 59405, to be given annually to students who show growth and improvement while living in the Cottage Program.
Richard's family would like to express our deep gratitude to the countless number of medical personnel and facilities that cared for him throughout his battle with kidney disease and various other miscellaneous medical emergencies.
