Robert “Bob” Christo Brooks, 66, of Great Falls, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Victory Church.
Bob was born on December 17, 1957, in Anchorage, Alaska to Robert and Muriel Brooks. At the age of 14 he received his first pilot’s license before receiving his driver’s license. In 1976, after graduating from Northwest High School he went on to receive his private pilot certificate from Spartan School of Aeronautics later that same year. He continued his pilot certification for commercial aircraft in 1977 also with Spartan. In 1978, he became a flight instructor for Spartan. His continuing education in aeronautics was not complete so in 1980 he became a certified Airframe and Powerplant Aviation mechanic from Stephens Aircraft. Throughout his adult life he was a flight instructor, corporate private pilot, and a commercial pilot.
He logged over 20,000 professional hours both domestically and internationally. He has flown aircraft in over 100 countries and six of the seven continents in the world. Bob has always been extremely grateful for the training and mentorship that he received from Ms. Edna Whyte. A pioneer female pilot at Arrow Valley Airport in Roanoke, Texas during the beginning of his aeronautics career.
Bob received his first communion, served as an altar boy, and was confirmed at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denton, Texas. He volunteered at Set Free Ministries, was a driver for the Food Bank in Cascade County, and a member of Victory Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, was an avid golfer, a cyclist, and 2 time bull riding qualifier with the NTHSRA rodeo in 1975 and 1976.
He is survived by his wife, Daphne Scott Brooks; daughters, Teigan Christina Alizabeth and Terra Kathleen Michele Brooks, all of Great Falls; mother, Muriel Brooks; sister, Sam Brooks Kelley; niece and nephews, Sydney, Jake, and Jack Kelley, all of Justin, TX; and brother, Patrick (Marcie) Nevin Brooks of Mansfield, TX. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Brooks and brother, Michael Patrick.
