Robert “Bob” Leo Suek, 90, of Dutton, MT, peacefully entered his heavenly home on Thursday, October 26, 2023.
Bob was born August 14, 1933, in Great Falls, MT to George J. and Magdalena M. (Bork) Suek. He was the 4th of 6 children. From the day he was born to the day he passed away, Dutton, MT was his home.
He was a 1951 graduate of Dutton High School. On April 1951, he enlisted in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged on November 1952. He met the love of his life, Carol Ann (Wills) in 1950 roller skating at the American Legion in Power, MT. They married on July 11, 1953, at St. Williams Catholic Church, Dutton. From this union they had 8 children.
In 1953, at the age of 20, Bob was hired by Schabel Brothers Grocery. He learned the retail grocery business by working alongside his employer and dear friends John and Loren Schabel. A few years later the business was rebranded B&B Grocery. Bob served as a respectful businessman with a positive attitude and never-ending smile. Bob and Carol retired in 1990. They had the privilege of traveling the countryside while visiting many friends and family.
Bob was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church in Dutton, where he amiably gave his treasury, time, and talent. He was a Dutton Volunteer Fireman, member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Lions Club, and Elk’s Club. He was an exceptional league bowler and ranked high in tournaments. He enjoyed golfing and playing cards with his buddies in Choteau. He loved to dance (there is no doubt he could kick up his heels). He was a player/coach for the “town basketball team.” He was an avid sports fan, but his heart was with the Cubbies, Dutton Cardinals, and Montana Grizzlies. During his retirement, he enjoyed mentoring the Dutton athletes at the gym, and riding the team bus to activities to record stats.
He took great pride in his beautiful yard. He enjoyed feeding and watching the birds. He welcomed the Christmas Season by stringing outdoor lights.
Bob is survived by his wife of 70 years, Carol Ann Suek; sons, Dale (Marjorie) Suek of Havre, Timothy Suek of Rapid City, SD, Clifford (Shelly) Suek of Dutton, and Gregory Suek of Valier; daughters, Janet (Art) Skinner of Dillon, Nancy (Kevin) Harcourt of North Pole, AK, Rosemary Suek of Great Falls, and Rebecca (Chip) Olson of Clarkston, WA; sisters, Donna Sander of Great Falls and Ann Ramsey of Great Falls; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Magdalena Suek; brothers, Jerome, and James Suek; sister, Irene Scott; father and mother-in-law, Johnny and Cecil Wills; brothers-in-law, Jack Wills and Glen Wills; sisters-in-law, Shirley Davis and Mary Crowell.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memoriam of Bob Suek to Town of Dutton Pool/Parks & Recreation; St. Williams Catholic Church; or Dutton American Legion Hall.
