Robert L. Ewing

Robert LeRoy Ewing, 68, of Great Falls, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Peace Hospice. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 19, 2016 at the Montana Veterans Cemetery in Fort Harrison. Cremation has been in the care of O’Connor Funeral Home. Robert was born in Helena on May 28, 1948 to Gerald and Virginia Ewing. The family moved to Great Falls when he was a young boy where he attended school through 8th grade. Robert enlisted in the army, served 18 ½ years, and was awarded the Purple Heart after a tour in Vietnam. He was able to achieve his GED while in the military and was discharged honorably. Robert was a hard worker all his life – working at times as a janitor and also a Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA) for over 15 years. Robert loved the outdoors. He went fishing, camping, four-wheeling, and riding Harleys any chance he got. He adored spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Robert is survived by his wife Melanie Ewing; daughters Ashley Schelin, Denise Ewing, Christy Ewing, Stacy Perrin, Bobbie Walkingchild, Jamie Ewing, Crystal Moyer, and McKenzie Ewing; sons Aaron Schelin and Tyson Ewing; god-daughter Jazman; sisters Jerilynn Gange and Cherrie Ewing; brother Dave Ewing; 19 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Virginia Ewing; and sister Terri Fatiz.
