Sherry M. Little Sun, 61, a loving mother, relative, and friend died Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at a local hospital. Graveside services will be held Friday December 7, 2012 at 10:00 am at Mount Olivet Cemetery. O’Connor Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Born in Rocky Boy Montana, home of the Chippewa Cree Tribe, on December 8, 1950 to Paul Little Sun and Georgeline (Tiny) Black, she grew up in Rocky Boy and attended public school there. She was the Powwow Princess twice while growing up. Once as a young pre-teen and once while a teenager. She was a traditional buckskin dancer. She was also, a stock car racing queen as a young woman; she handed out trophies to all the winners of the car races and gave them a kiss. She attended cosmetology school in Dallas Texas graduated and came back home. Living with her mother and brother in Havre, she began cutting hair and did cosmetology work until the birth of her first child. She married in 1974 and had six children; four girls and two sons. She then became a stay at home mom. She divorced after eighteen years of marriage and went on to attend, Stone Child College majoring in Chemical dependency, Human Services. Sherry was a devoted mother, daughter, and friend to many. She loved scary movies, chocolate, fresh fruit, her children, and grandchildren. She liked to sew, cook, play baseball, ride horses, and could make really good fry bread and pies. She is survived by her brothers, Erwin Little Sun, Henry Day Child, and several cousins, all of Rocky Boy; six children Nicole (Roy) Burtell of Billings, MT, Nathan Estell of Lincoln, Nebraska, Tara Estell of Great Falls, Rosie Estell of Lincoln, NE, Tiffany (Fenta) Estell of Germany, and Paul Estell of Great Falls; twelve grandchildren; and the families of Crebs, Lodge Pole, Cantrell, Murie, Tendoy, and many more. She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul Little Sun and Georgeline (Tiny) Black and grandson Ethan L.A. Estell. Our circle of family and friends is large.
