Shirley Blalock

Shirley (Edwards) Blalock, 78, passed away Monday, November 11, 2013 of natural causes. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 4 pm to 8 pm at O’Connor Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral service. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 10 am at Temple Baptist Church with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery. Shirley was born December 19, 1934 in Norwood, NC to Emma Edwards and was raised by her aunt, Ada Edwards. She attended Norwood High School. Shirley married the love of her life, Julius “Jule” Blalock on August 30, 1952 in Chesterfield, SC. For 26 years she traveled the world with Jule as a military wife. She prided herself in taking care of her children and keeping their home in order. Her family was important to her and they gave her the same care that she had given to them up until she passed away. She enjoyed sewing, playing cards, fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren and family. Shirley is survived by her husband, Julius “Jule” Blalock of Great Falls; son Randy (Cathie) Blalock of Great Falls; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Debbie “Terry” Rivera; son Reggy D’Lann Blalock; and grandson Jeremiah D’Lann Blalock.
