Verna Carol Jones McInnis, 76, of Great Falls, once again felt the warm embrace of her beloved husband, Ron, on the first day of Spring, March, 2020.She met her varying health challenges and surgeries with tenacity and always rose up to all that life dealt her with an indomitable spirit. On the night of March 19, she made the transition to heaven at Benefis Health System after a brief illness. Verna was born on December 21, 1943, in Devil’s Lake, ND, to Robert and Edna Jones. She lived on the family farm until the family moved to Great Falls, MT, where she spent the majority of her life. She met and married her true love, Ron “Mac” McInnis, in her early 20s, and they lived and loved in Illinois and Colorado before returning to Great Falls to make memories enjoying the outdoors and living the life of their dreams. She was a proud wife of Ron, who was a Policeman with the GFPD. She loved working for Crown Jewelers as a gemologist, and she finished out her working years as a credit counselor for Credit Associates. Those who had the good fortune of knowing her would recognize her in her little red convertible, cruising the drag listening to the oldies on CDs, on the way to Ford’s Drive-In to get her double cheeseburger and onion rings. She was always dressed to the nines with a style that was unmatchable. Besides her quick wit and bright smile, her most noteworthy qualities were her generous heart and giving spirit. She will be deeply missed. Survivors include brother, Howard (Jan) Jones; daughter, Jackie Gray; son, Mitchell Ray McInnis; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Karla Rustin, Tawnee and Ryan Bulyca, and Kurt and Michele Stull. She was preceded in death by brothers, Raymond Jones and Charles Jones; sisters, Carolyn Tongate and Leah “Frenchie” Johnson. Cremation has been entrusted to O’Connor Funeral Home and her ashes will be laid to rest with Ronnie’s in her family plot at a later date.Rest in peace Verna, you are so very loved.
