Vina Mae Menghini

Vina Mae Menghini, 79, of Great Falls, passed away peacefully September 28, 2013 at a local hospital. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 6, 2013 from 3 pm to 5 pm at O’Connor Funeral Home followed by a vigil service beginning at 5 pm. A funeral service will be held Monday October 7, 2013 at 10 am at O’Connor Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Vina was born September 16, 1934 in Portland, OR to Opal Nordel Mckiness. She was raised in Southern California and attended an all-girls catholic school. She was an only child but had a close relationship with her uncle, Richard who was of the same age. Vina later met Emil ”Gene” Eugene Menghini, Jr. while he was stationed at a California navy base. They were married May 9, 1955 in Las Vegas NV, and later moved to Great Falls in 1957 where they raised five children. Vina had a close relationship with her children and grandchildren. She loved bingo, watching movies, playing cards and dice games. She is survived by her husband, Emil Gene Eugene Menghini; daughters Kathleen Dixon of Deer Lodge, Francine Marsh of Great Falls, and Colleen Abresch Great Falls; son Perry Menghini; uncle Richard Nordel of California; 15 grandchildren, 32 great- grandchildren, and 1 great –great- grandchild. Vina’s youngest daughter Jeanette Menghini joined Vina in Heaven two days after she passed away. Vina was preceded in death her mother, Opal Nordel Mckiness; grandchildren Douglas Meade, Destiney Moore, and Tyler Menghini. She was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed. She will be always loved and remembered but never forgotten.
